Sexual Identity and Decision Making

BLOG POST #1
CATCHY TITLE:

Do Something?

BLOG POST BODY PARAGRAPHS:  (Broken into easy to read paragraphs, formatting font to make it easier to follow main ideas, etc.)
  • Briefly explain why you are interested in studying your topic:
    • I’m interested in studying this topic because I believe that it is one of the few civil rights issues left that are blatantly obvious that many people choose to ignore.
  • The overall question I plan on answering by the end of the project:
    • How does your sexual identity affect your decision making?
  • Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question:
    • Interview Questions
      • What does your sexual identity mean to you?
      • Do you think that a person’s identity affects them in school?
        • What about other areas in life?- home-buying, marriage, work?
      • What does a decision mean to you?
      • Why does their identity affect them?
      • Do you think cultural or ethnic background of an LGBT student affects their identity?
      • Do you have any role in effecting the sexual identity of other people?

  • My plan of research (what specific Library Databases, specific websites, names of authors, people, etc. will I pursue to find the answers to the questions above):
    • Specific websites used:
      • Global Issues in Context
      • Opposing Viewpoints in Context
      • HRC (Human Rights Campaign)
      • ACLU
      • Center on Halstead
      • GLSEN.org
    • I plan on interviewing people from Exelon Pride, an organization that wants to inform people of the discrimination faced by LGBT people everyday.
