Is Music Evolving or Devolving?

 

I am interested in studying my topic because I have been obsessed with instruments and music for as long as I can remember.

My overall question is, How music has evolved over time as technology and hardware advances.

• Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question:

I will need to answer the overall question and smaller things that factor into my question like, the history of the electric guitar and how electronic music has become more popular as technology advances

• My plan of research (what specific Library Databases, specific websites, names of authors, people, etc. will I pursue to find the answers to the questions above):

My plan to research will consist of reading music reviews on websites like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Consequence of sound to understand emotional connections to modern music and learn what kind of instruments artists use today. I also will watch videos on the history of music to learn what technological advances stayed and what did not stay. I will study mostly rock and indie-rock to learn about the equipment the musicians use to create their signature sounds.
