BLOG POST BODY PARAGRAPHS: (Broken into easy to read paragraphs, formatting font to make it easier to follow main ideas, etc.)
- Briefly explain why you are interested in studying your topic:
I am interested in this topic because as a child I loved the discovery channel more than anything. I would binge watch shows on the animals that live around the world. One thing I noticed while watching these shows was that many of the animals they covered were near extinction. I am curious why so many animals are endangered and what we can do to start saving these species from extinction.
- The overall question I plan on answering by the end of the project:
What are some reasons for many species nearing extinction and what can we do to prevent more species from going extinct in the near future.
- Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question:
Some sub questions that I may be able to answer while researching my topic are which animals are more likely to become endangered and why. What are some of the species that are closest to becoming extinct. What animals are poached the most and for what reasons. What is the number one reason for animals going extinct so quickly.
- My plan of research (what specific Library Databases, specific websites, names of authors, people, etc. will I pursue to find the answers to the questions above):
I plan on using many of the databases on the Hinsdale Central Website in order to obtain more information on the topic.(Proquest, Global Issues in Context) Also, I would like to find a book on the topic and read it so that I have more general knowledge on the issue at hand. Most of my learning though will probably come from articles from national geographic and websites that give statistics on endangered animals. One more idea that I had was to look for a documentary on Steve Irwin because he dedicated his life to saving and studying the life of animals. Many of which were endangered.
