According to an article by the Smithsonian, there is a difference between the dream for different races. The Iconic white picket fence house in suburbia means more to minorities than white people. This was found in a study from Meredith Greif a sociology professor at John Hopkins Medical School.
She concluded that the rates of whites in more ideal neighborhoods far exceeded those of minorities. White people also tend to get homes with more property value and services and don't value them as much as a minority would. Greif also states that minorities are unable to move because they have put more money into there house or town. What I mean by this is people try to clean up the town by renovating the house, clearing graffiti or getting rid of an old parking lot. The best way to sum this up is the author's last sentence “While an advantaged white family might simply move to a new home if they begin to dislike their neighborhood, minority home owners didn't have the same luxury.”

I agree with the author that there is a difference in the quality of living. However, she has a point that it may be hard to get out it is not impossible, there are ways for it to work to move to a better location. I am also curious to see her sources because they could continue to help my research.
Are there any arguments against this?
Is this only in a certain type of setting/ region?
