According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, these are some of the highest paying occupations since 2012. This list includes 5 out of 20 of some of the top career choices for you.
- Dentists diagnose and treat problems with teeth and tissues in the mouth, along with giving advice and administering care to help prevent future problems. The median salary is $149,310 per year, which was more than some practitioners in other fields.
- Physicians examine patients, obtain medical histories, and order and perform diagnostic tests. The median salary was greater than $187,200 per year, but does require extra schooling and a residency if you would pursue this career.
- Chief Executives are the highest level of management at an organization and often work closely with other executives and managers. The median salary is $101,650 per year, and this job does require a bachelor's or master's degree.
- Petroleum engineers make sure that oil field equipment is installed, operated, and maintained properly. The median salary is $130,280 and this job requires many certifications and licenses such as the ABET-accredited engineering program degree and a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
- Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Managers inspect layouts, which are sketches or plans for an advertisement. The median salary is $115,750 per year, and requires a bachelor's or master's degree, along with differing courses such as visual arts and market research.
I read over this list and the majority included careers closely linked with technology or medicine. It was shocking to not find bankers, for example, but then I realized that technology and the internet has overthrown the need for human interaction. Petroleum engineer also struck me as being out of the blue because I didn't think the oil manufacturing process was that in depth, but it is according to the job description. The need for oil will always be there, which is why we will need people to fill those jobs. Advertising and Marketing Managers did not surprise me because in this generation, all we (Americans) seem to do is buy more and more and love our new "stuff" which is why these managers will always be in constant demand for huge corporations and businesses.
