Civil Lawsuit to be Filed Against City of Ferguson- Michael Brown

SUMMARY: The parents of Michael Brown, the 18 year old shot to death in Ferguson, are planning to file a civil lawsuit against the city of Ferguson because they did not get justice over their son’s death. St. Louis grand jury declined to prosecute Darren Wilson, the shooter, but the federal justice department spoke out against them. After this review, many city officials resigned.

ANALYSIS: While nothing can change the fact that Michael died, it is good that his death is changing things. It makes me think, it would be a lot cheaper for us to be less racist. I know the Ferguson police department spends a lot of money arresting and searching and dealing with lawsuits based on their treatment of black people. It would save everyone a lot of time and money to just accept everyone. It seems like the most economically sound decision.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: Why is it so hard to keep officers in check? Why is it so hard to change opinions? And how can we do all of this more efficiently?
